If you haven’t gotten your girls, or YOU, the book, No Time to be Dumb, by Rachel Jankovic, you should. Take a minute to read this powerful excerpt..

Value your work

“When women value their work and pursue excellence in it, God uses it in ways that you just can’t see on the surface. This is how culture is built. This is how you raise the bar for the next generation. This is how you make your home a place that your children want to be. This is also how you glorify your husband’s labor by turning your ho into an expression of all the both of you hold dear & believe…

Two Scenarios

Imagine a hard-working, high-achieving husband who loves his family and wants to care for them. But then imagine that his wife is really dropping the ball. She doesn’t know how to set a table or make a meal. She doesn’t know how to make the home a nice place to be. No matter how competent that man is at being a man, he is crippled in expressing his love to his family. He is crippled in the contribution that his household can make in building the kingdom.

Take that same man and give him a capable, competent and joyful wife. When he comes home and she has made dinner and the family gathers around the table–what exactly is happening? He is able, through her faithful work, to express his physical love and care for his family.

His labor now tastes like something and looks like something; It can be enjoyed in a way that just a paycheck never could. His work has taken on a personality. A wife glorifies her husband’s work by turning it into real things that can be felt and seen and tasted. He gets to enjoy the tangible expression of his love for her and the children, and her love in response. She takes his work at the office and turns it into the blessing of clean socks, cozy bed and filling meals.”

Conclusion

What we do matters, not just in the dailyness of our work, but in the generations that continue after us. And it matters in the eternal realm, where our Father sees, takes note and blesses the labor of our hands. Be encouraged, friend!
