We were three months behind on our mortgage the year I finally figured it out.

I don’t say that for sympathy. I say it because I know some of you are doing the same math I was doing — the late-night, please-God-let-the-numbers-change-by-morning math — and I want you to know where I was when everything shifted.

I had chosen this life. Eleven kids. Homeschooling. A shuttle bus where a minivan should be. I chose it and I loved it and I wouldn’t have traded it.

But the financial pressure that came with it? Nobody romanticizes that part.

The Part Nobody Talks About

My husband was working every hour available to him. We were still coming up short. And underneath the life I had built with my own hands was this quiet, constant hum of anxiety that never fully went away.

I tried to earn more. Of course I did.

I tried things that traded my time for dollars and left me more depleted than before. Things that required me to sell to people I loved until I could feel the relationships straining. Things that paid just enough to keep me trying and never enough to actually change anything.

And I want to be honest — I didn’t try casually. I tried desperately. There is a particular kind of exhaustion that comes from working hard at something that isn’t working, and not knowing what to change.

I know that exhaustion. I lived inside it for a long time.

What I Built That Didn’t Work

Somewhere in the middle of all that trying, I decided to build a digital course.

I believed in digital products. I still do. I knew there was something real there — something that could work in the margins of a homeschool life, something that didn’t require me to be somewhere I wasn’t or sell myself to someone I didn’t know.

So I researched for months. Built the sales page myself. Wrote the emails. Set up the funnel late at night after everyone was in bed, piece by painstaking piece.

It didn’t convert.

I could see it wasn’t working. I just didn’t know what to change. I spent weeks searching — “fix my funnel,” “sales page that converts,” “why aren’t people buying” — drowning in information that never added up to a solution.

I knew what I needed. I needed someone who knew what they were doing to build it for me. I just couldn’t afford that.

Burned out. Broke. And rock solid determined I was going to figure this out.

The Moment Everything Shifted

That’s when I found Legacy Builders.

And I want to tell you honestly what happened — because it wasn’t a lightning bolt. It wasn’t love at first sight. It was something quieter and more specific than that.

It was recognition.

I had spent enough time in the world of digital marketing to know what a well-built funnel looks like. I had spent enough time failing at my own to know how rare it actually is.

What I saw in Legacy Builders was something already built to convert — by people who knew what they were doing — with the legal right to sell it and keep every dollar of profit.

The sales page was already written. The emails were already written. The checkout process was already built. Everything I had spent months trying to create from scratch — already done.

I just had to learn how to show up online and share something I genuinely believed in.

And after twenty years of building an audience around homeschooling — showing up and sharing something I believe in is the one thing I already knew how to do.

What I Want You To Know About What Came Next

It didn’t happen overnight. I want to say that clearly because the online world is full of people who skip this part.

There was a learning curve. There were posts that got no engagement and weeks that felt like nothing was moving. There were moments I still felt lost.

But here’s what was different:

The system kept working while I was figuring it out.

The automated emails went out whether I felt ready or not. The sales page converted while I was homeschooling. The money landed in my account while I was making dinner.

I made my first sale while I was standing in my kitchen. I checked my phone and just stood there for a second.

Something shifted that has never shifted back.

What’s True Now

Today I make more than my husband. From home. In the margins of the life I already loved.

Not because I’m exceptional. Not because I have more hours than you do or a bigger following or some secret nobody else knows.

Because I finally stopped trying to build something from scratch when something already built was sitting right in front of me. And because I was willing to show up consistently for something I believed in.

I still homeschool. I still use copywork for English and nothing else. I still have a house that is never quiet and a life that looks nothing like what people expect.

But I don’t lie awake doing math anymore.

The Thing I Actually Learned

The model matters more than the hustle.

I hustled for years inside the wrong model and got nowhere. I showed up consistently inside the right model and everything changed.

That’s it. That’s the whole lesson.

If you’re somewhere I was — trying hard, coming up short, wondering what you’re missing — the answer probably isn’t more effort. It’s a different model entirely.

If you want to know more about what I use and why I believe in it — you can start here. No pitch. No pressure. Just the next part of the story.
