I love this little devotional. I come from a long Christian personal walk, and a long lineage of dust-gathered devotional that never connected me to the Lord. Too much about the author, their opinion, and too shallow. Not this one! Every single devotion is deep, connects me to the most important person: Christ. I don’t even know that much about the author — which I find refreshing! Enough to know that she is/was in the throes of motherhood and Real. Life. But she constantly points me to the Lord and sets my mind to things above! You’ll love it.

Highly recommend this book to any & every mother! Gives you the encouragement to make it another day in this difficult job described as motherhood. Everyone needs this devotional!

This devotion is an extremely valuable to for moms who get stressed out, depressed, and just wonder what they’re doing! I think that’s pretty much every mom on the planet lol, especially for a homeschooling mom like me, priceless 🙂

This is a great book of encouraging “devotions” for tired and discouraged moms. I find myself eager to read a section every day to fill my soul with encouragement and truth.

I enjoy reading Kelly’s blog, and am very glad I paid such a small sum for the encouragement, wisdom, and gentle admonition (at least for me!) that I found in her e-book. This book is meant to be read in a sort of daily devotional-type format, but I found I just didn’t want to stop reading after one short section, and read as much as the demands of my busy household of children would allow. What I appreciated the most about this book is that it pulled my attention away from how hard motherhood can be, and helped me focus instead on the great importance of directing our children’s hearts (and our own!) toward each other and toward Christ. It is so easy to let our children’s constant demands and quarrels drain us, but Kelly gently reminds us why we are doing this – and for Whom we are doing it. As I read this book, I became inspired to once again take up the challenge, but great privilege, of raising children who will love our Lord. To stop perseverating on how hard it can become but instead taking it day by day, even moment by moment, concentrating on my relationship with my children, showing each of them that I love them and that they are special to me, just as our Father constantly shows us. This book also reminded me that even seemingly mundane tasks (like picking up puzzle pieces for the 10th time that day!) are of great value to our families and thus, to God. And for families with several young children (like ours), I really appreciated the “survival tips” at the end – I needed to be reminded that a perfectly clean house or numerous outside activities are not necessary, especially in this season of life! Now that I have finished the book, I find myself coming back to it daily (or even a few times on those really hard days!) to “recharge” and to redirect my focus back to nurturing the precious souls God has entrusted to my husband and me. If you also find yourself losing focus, getting caught up in how draining everything can be, I’d encourage you to read this book and feel refreshed!

Every night I try to get some quiet time for myself after the kids go to bed and before I am too tired. I like to read my Bible and work on a Bible study. This book, “Devotions, Advice & Renewal for When Motherhood Feels Too Hard,” would be a perfect book to read after a long day as a mom.

A few reasons why I think that moms would enjoy this book:

    1. It is broken into short (less than 2 page) chapters that will only take a few minutes to read. It is a short concentrated study that lasts 31 days.

    2. It is written by a real mom (with 9 children) that understands how hard it is to be a mom. She provides real encouragement based on the Bible and her own experience.

    3. The price is very reasonable at a cost of $8.99 for paperback version, $4.97 for e-version and there is even a bulk rate available for a Bible study.

This is going on my list for perfect gifts for moms — new moms, experienced moms, all moms. I just received it as a gift a week ago and have already recommended it to all of the moms in our parenting class at church. It beautifully portrays the struggles and responsibilities of motherhood while also underscoring the beauty of the important role God has given mothers in our children’s world.

Excellent. I bought this book months ago but didn’t start reading it until recently. I wish I hadn’t waited!! Days are long but the years are short… Isn’t that what they say? This book helps put things into perspective. Momma-ing is hard work. I don’t want to lose sight of what I’m doing in the day-to-day and forget the eternal value of raising these little people. Kelly’s book does just that. Such an encouragement. <3

  9. Joelle

As a young mom of 5 children under the age of 5, I soaked up every word of this book within a day or two of receiving it. I can’t say enough positive about the encouragement she offers to mothers, whether you have one child or a dozen. I’ve since bought about 6 additional copies to hand out to my mom friends & im sure I’ll keep buying them!

I am a homeschooling mom of 5 (almost 6). My sister bought me this book because we both enjoy the Generation Cedar blog. I love it! Kelly Crawford hits the heart of being a true mommy. The book is so encouraging and really sets your mind and heart on what is truly the crux of mothering. We should not lose heart or be trampled by the world’s idea of what a mommy is. This is our calling and it a high calling! I bought another copy for a friend who is in constant need of reminding that she is exactly where God wants her-at home with her children teaching them God’s ways! I can’t wait to give it to her!

  11. Faith

This book is going to be living on my kitchen counter. I too could not put it down. Though it is in perfect length and format to use as a devotional. I so appreciate the Godly profound perspective that the author communicates in this book. It speaks directly to the weary soul. I wasn’t even feeling like motherhood was too hard when I read this book. However, her words will change the way I parent. I pray that it will continue to be used to bring out more fruit of the Spirit in my mothering. I intend to keep the book close until these concepts are written on my heart and become my natural responses (as much as humanly possible). The author has managed to illustrate how even the most repetitious and mundane parts of motherhood are so valuable and important. Everything presented is scripturally based. It is all written in such an encouraging, fresh way. I intend to buy my closest friends a copy. Everyone can benefit from this book.

  12. Ali

This book was just what I needed! It’s short devotions are easy to get through in the precious little “alone” time that a mother of little ones has in a day. Plus, the content is just so relevant and hits home almost every time. This book has been SUCH a blessing to me! Highly recommended!
