How To Take The Stress Out Of Your Homeschooling

I remember how stressed I was after just one year of homeschooling. I thought about giving up, because it was so much harder than I had imagined. And worse, my daughter wasn’t enjoying it either. I knew something had to change. Now, after 14 years of homeschooling, I’m not stressed anymore, I love homes chooling and my children are enjoying learning too!

“Kelly – I just wanted to thank you for your “Think Outside the Classroom” book. I consumed it just a couple of hours one quiet afternoon last week and could have done cartwheels through the living room as I finished. It was so freeing!!!” -Julie

“Kelly, About your ebook…I can’t tell you the amazing peace God filled my soul with after reading it, voraciously!…I felt like a complete failure in the education of my children. After reading your book I realized that we had been doing a lot more ’school’ than I gave us credit for.” -Amy B.

Homeschooling is hard work. But it isn’t supposed to be drudgery!

After hearing so many moms who were discouraged about “keeping up”, always feeling behind, overwhelmed and inadequate, I decided to put on paper some incredible things we’ve learned on our homeschool journey.

“This book changed our lives. I had no idea how I was squelching my children’s love of learning by trying to reproduce something that we already knew doesn’t work very well. Now they thrive and we’re all much happier!” -Sandra L.

This book challenged me in a HUGE way as a former somewhat anti-homeschooler.
“Kids need school and structure and deadlines and rigorous learning to succeed in life!” was what I always thought.
Through a series of miscellaneous events we did end up needing to homeschool but I had no idea where to start. I absolutely love that she’s a former school teacher and took the time to write this book as someone on the other “side” of education. I saw a negative review from someone who was upset that the book wasn’t full of practical tips, but that’s not the point of the book. Kelly helped shift my thinking to really “see” our kids, to see life from their perspective, and I had to sit back and really figure out our “why” when we decided to learn something new.
    How do you define education?
Why do our children need to know xyz information at xyz age? Why at that age if they’re not ready?
I had to answer so, so many questions that really brought me so much peace because I had more clarity on the lifestyle in which we wanted to raise our children to give them the most well-rounded education possible.

She’s obviously a Christian, which you’ll find out after probably the first few pages. If you don’t believe in God, the book is still phenomenal and you can very easily sub whatever ideology fits your beliefs best (or none, if that’s the case!) whenever you see God mentioned.

Such a great book and I refer back to it often, thank you!

This book helped me re-center and realize what is actually important in our homeschool. I have been struggling over the last couple years with burn out, trying to fit in all the subjects with five kids. I’m so thankful for this timely book.Ama
