“This night with the lights turned low except for a corner lamp aglow,

Has coaxed the clamor into calm, my soul in need of this soothing balm.

Clean-smelling babies and soft, tan skin, snuggle up in my lap again.

I hold tightly to a 4-year-old, I feel her and me becoming old

Too soon.  But this is now, and while I’m here I’ll make it count.

I’ll look and listen, learn and love, ask forgiveness, kiss and hug.

And on the days I want to give up–I won’t.

My God has called me to a task and there is just one thing He asks…

“Love all of ME with all of you and teach those children to love me too.”

Spread the love

  1. Adorable picture! She looks about a year old. My younger son was about a week from turning one at the time that picture was taken, I see. Did we both have a baby on the same day somewhere back in history? 😉

      1. Oh, funny. My first guess was that that was Mallie, but then I saw the date and figured maybe Avi (who I think is very close in age to my boy) once looked like Mallie before Mallie was. 🙂

I didn’t think of the date possibly being wrong, but I should have, as I kind of questioned the time stamp — 2:50 a.m.?!! 😛
