Generation Cedar

Do not get sidetracked by numbers. Our Lord never did.

There are some fantastic ministries around, you know? And I’m beyond grateful for them. Those radio programs that reach the whole world, books and sermons and speakers who touch more lives than they’ll ever know. Praise the Lord for them. We need them.

And then I wonder if my work means anything.

Do you ever compare yourself?

If you are living a life of obedience, seeking to walk humbly with your God, your ministry is just as robust, just as meaningful as the famous missionary-biography you just read.

Jesus. Perfect. Missionary. The spearhead leader of a movement that would surpass any other religion. Let’s talk about his numbers:

One hundred fifty, give or take a few. That was the whopping number of followers He garnered while on earth. The man that performed miracles that have never been matched. The man that died and rose again.

He didn’t get caught up in numbers. He got caught up in walking alongside people. The word? Relationships.

I write here mainly to moms. If you are a mom, walking alongside people, building relationships, your ministry can be compared to the perfect Savior’s.

Don’t let yourself compare your ministry to anyone else.

And if God can take that handful of people Jesus poured into and multiply it to the ends of the earth, He’ll do the same with your faithful investing.

Tend your mission field. Build and invest and serve the people in your care. Teach them about the Father through your life. Mother with a generational vision. You have no idea what God is doing with your fish and loaves.

  1. Very good and timely, Kelly.

Lately I’ve been seeing a need to tend my mission field more intensively than I have, so this is a motivating word. Thank you.

Wishing you well as the wedding approaches. I’ll be praying for you all Saturday.

And a Merry Christmas to you and your family, as well!

  2. Powerful words to bring confirmation to what the Lord has been stirring in my heart. Thank you for lending yourself!

  3. I have to just comment on this one because I’m basically at a different season in life now. As an older mom now at 54, who with the Lord’s help and my husbands of who has raised six kids, I can honestly say this now! The time you spend with those kids even in the midst of all the tiredness and business and craziness, It will be worth it!

My kid’s range now from 30 years down to 16 years. I’m only homeschooling one now. I Will NEVER REGRET the time I spent living my mission and yes..that’s what we can call it no matter what the world say’s or other Christians say! Even when we are home with kids, the Lord still gives us ways to love and reach people. We are still wives, sister’s, daughters, and the list can go on. We really need to remember though (and I know it can be hard) that our main mission is to our family. Our husband and our children. You will reap the benefits as your children grow up! I promise you!!

  4. I was just thinking about this THIS VERY MORNING!

I’m so thankful though to have read it in your blog. I love your posts and your ability to write in such a way that is simple and rings so true to the core of my heart.

May the LORD continue to speak through you!
