Generation Cedar

I’m excited about this post, but like many others, I have so many different, interlocking thoughts, that I know it will be a challenge to say things clearly. Bear with me!

Yesterday I read an article–ART IN OUR LIVES, to the kids. (I highly recommend you print if off and read it–WOW!) I got so excited about it, that at one point I bounded out of my chair and started reading from a standing position, using lots of hand gestures. I realized, when I saw the children trying to conceal their loving snickers, that I had gotten a little carried away.

“I want to rally every Christian woman up and encourage her, and undo the nonsense the culture has done, and give her a vision that is so much bigger and
life-changing and world-changing than anything she can imagine.”

Nevertheless, the article resonated with me, tying together many other thoughts I’ve had recently about this big job I feel the Lord calls mothers and wives to.

And this is where the culture misses it…this is the “missing link” that causes everyone to scratch their heads and say, “But what if a woman wants to DO something with her life?”…meaning, use her gifts and abilities in a “meaningful” way outside the home.

What we’re called to do here, fleshed out in many practical tangible ways, depending on our gifts and talents, is to be DOMINION TAKERS. (Stay tuned for a review about this coming soon!)

Through our hands, our service, our love, our talents, our ability to communicate, our cultural influence, our children, our husbands, our families–through EVERYTHING we do we are part of an army that is reclaiming our culture for the glory of God.

The question, “so what do you do all day” reveals how completely off the radar this incredible job given to us is. Why do I make such a big deal about the mandate to be keepers at home? To raise children and help our husbands?

Some say, “Mind your own business and don’t tell others what they should be doing.”

It’s not like that! I want to rally every Christian woman up and encourage her, and undo the nonsense the culture has done, and give her a vision that is so much bigger and life-changing and world-changing than anything she can imagine.

Picture Christian women everywhere throwing off the shackles of 9-5, and not just “coming home”, but creating an estate–a city on a hill–a place out of which warriors, of every kind will march forth. Men and women who will become beacons in a dark world, to where the broken and hopeless will flock, and the world will see that YES, the people of God are mighty in the land!

Mothers, remember this on your hard days…it’s worth it!

Spread the love

  1. I have the link open in another window, so I haven’t read it yet, but I want to say that your passion for this is amazing and so refreshing.

I’m very glad that I found your blog. 🙂

  2. That’s exactly why I don’t like the term “stay at home mom”. I don’t just “stay home.” There is so much more to it! (As in, rather than work outside of the home, I’ve chosen to just stay home.)

I need this kind of message all the time. Mrs. Fuentes is good about this kind of encouragement too. I need to keep reading it—so keep speaking!

  3. Brenda,

Isn’t it funny how we all need this message so often? It’s not enough to just know it, or read it…we have to be immersed in it and reminded constantly or our flesh takes over and we start listening to other voices around us.

  4. “throwing off the shackles”

    AMEN…AMEN…AND AMEN!

We were just talking about this yesterday, how FREE we are to do the things we want to do and the things that NEED to be done.

Sad how feminist think of us as in bondage, wasting our lives away when it is really they who are shackled, shackled to a time clock, a boss ( or bosses) and the pursuit of materialism and/or significance.

There are SO MANY opportunities for keepers at home to minister and yes, even make money right from home. I am thankful to have a husband that wants me FREE, free to meet the needs of people around us, free to open our home to provide fellowship and shelter. Free to equip our daughters to take dominion from home base! FREE to be HIS helper!

We have so many things we want to do I don’t think one lifetime is long enough!

Can’t wait to read your review!!!

  5. Yet, another who needed tho hear this today. It seems very easy to be wrapped up in just getting through the day and doing all the tasks needing to be completed, that I tend to miss the big picture sometimes.

  6. This post almost made me cry. I love your excitement and enthusiasm!! 🙂
I am so asking for the VF videos for Christmas…if I don’t win them first. LOL

  7. I got goosebumps reading this post! I’m excited for the warriors that will come forth from my womb and from our home!
